Time Flies

Boy - where does the time go. Is there an empty vessel someplace where it hides and then keeps refilling. This year we adopted a horse. It is a long story as to how she came to us. She has added much value to our lives. Her name is Celebrity Jamie. Stay tuned for more adventures.

It's a Beautiful Morning.....

We went for a walk today, what a beautiful day. The birds are singing, the flowers are beautiful and the air is fresh and clean. An absolutely beautiful day. Blessings to all my friends.

Junior Filling My PawSteps

There is a new kid on the block and he is burning up the sidewalk meeting with the mayor, city officials, newspaper and TV people. He is a real celebrity. I wish him the best of luck as I step aside. His name is Junior. He will be taking over Hero's Hope as the new spokesdog. Here we are doing an event together at WildBirds Unlimited. You will start to see more of Junior and Less of me.

when I am not here anymore.

More readers, I love reading with my friends.

So much has happened this month

Ripley's believe it or not.....I read with over 450 children at Alexander Doniphan School and helped them learn how to be safe around dogs and not get bit. Some dogs are not as patient and nice, and some are not comfortable around children and or don't like people in their space or in their face. It was really fun being with so many kids. They gave me an official school tshirt and hat. I can't wait to go back. I just love the kids. We are having a summer reading date and in the fall hopefully we will have a morning reading club. There is so much to look forward to. I love reading with the kids. These are the children from Sni-A-Bar elementary, they did a food drive for Hero's Hope Pet-Assist and learned about pet responsibility. More photos later.

It's Not About Me

I guess you have heard the saying "It's Not About Me" you could say that applies to my life. First, I lived only for my owner Carol. I adored her. When she got sick and died, I was lost and depressed. But, then things got better. You will notice that most of the posts on my blog are about my friends and family. Although I love doing things with people and sharing, I love sharing about my friends even more. Today I heard that Mandy, the pointer that was adopted by Meghan went to the top of the St. Louis Arch with her owner, Meghan. I sure hope she sends me photos. Boy, I could not even fit in one of those little elevator seats. I am so happy that Mandy has a new wonderful life with her new owner Meghan. I will share photos if they send any.

Hey Hey What Do You Say It Has Been A Busy Day

It has been so busy and so much fun.  I am feeling great right now.  I came out of remission and was not feeling well in January/February, but with the help of Dr. Faris I am doing great.  I get accupuncture and mistletoe injections, plus homeopathic herbs that are really helping me feel good.  I met the KC Wolf last week and will post some photos as soon as I can get the computer to cooperate.  My friend Stewie in California is doing great.  I heard from him the others.  We are having a big reading event at school and I am so excited.  I love to read and love the kids.  I never want to leave them, but my "mom" says I have to leave so I don't get too tired.  I will send photos when I can.

Tess Koppelman

During my visit at Ronald McDonald House, Tess Koppelman did an interview with my friend Chelsea.  It makes me feel very good to help children.  http://www.fox4kc.com/news/wdaf-hero-brings-smile-to-kids-who-123110,0,4524434.story

My life in dog years

I am reading My Life In Dog Years by Gary Paulsen.  It is a true story about a man and his dogs.  It will make you laugh and cry all at the same time.  A very good book for those who love dogs - Like ME!  What are you reading right now?

Reading is Fun

I have a list of books I want to read over the Holiday Winter Break.  I am starting with a book called Second Chance about two puppies who needed a home.  Check back in to read about what happens as two homeless puppies find homes.  I would love for you to write me about the books you are reading.

Hero's Hope Pet-Assist

It is official.  My friends started this group to help people keep their dog at home if they have health or financial difficulties.  All people have to do is apply for either food, financial help, transport or in home pet care and they will get help.  So many people are forced to give their pets away when hard times hit.  We hope we can keep some pets from the shelters by doing this.  Thanks to all the firemen, children at school, Debbie Pack, Gina, Valerie and other friends who helped make this happen.  We hope to help many dogs stay with their families.  I was homeless once when my owner was sick from cancer and I hope I can help other dogs like me.  Thanks friends !!!!!
